The Madness Continues

My stay here has been very productive! I’ve practiced my embarrassing French on a few locals in order to procure the coffee beans I needed to leave for the intern (I’ve been drinking delicious coffee like a fiend…and using many beans in the process). I got out and about in Sherbrooke a few times over the last couple days, and have genuinely enjoyed the wintery interlude.

The pierogi night blog is sporting a new wordpress theme as well as a lot of new content, and I’m so pleased to have the time to do that. I’ve also started the research for a paper I am writing about gift giving as praxis in social practice, with a bit of performance thrown in. I’ve completed the project description component of a residency proposal, and pretty much finished a curatorial proposal. I like it a lot when my only job is my art work. This is wonderful.

I taught three people how to make delicious pad thai last night. Cooking collectively was a really great experience; and I enjoyed teaching. Tonia Dirisio makes art all about that. You should have a look at it. The intern and his girlfriend made a pancake feast yesterday for breakfast, so of course I will share that with you all.

Zach and I have continued our numerous art talks, or perhaps it is more one days-long ongoing conversation. Here are a few other artists who’ve come up:

Here it is, the first Misc Inc Artist in Residence interview.

Don’t miss Gillian’s beautiful website where you can check out all of her recent projects including Perogi Night, her weekly radio show with her husband,  Jared.

the madness begins

I’ve had a few little tours of Sherbrooke and met a couple snow-covered locals who stopped in on their way to a poetry slam. It’s a pretty neat town, and a good place to get some work done. My plan for the misc. residency is to try and write a few grants, and learn how to do a proper handstand. I’m also using the time afforded by the misc. residency to help give pierogi night legs.

A big part of this residency is conversation. We’re plotting and planning and setting up teleconferences and making pizza.

Here’s the pizza:
